Elizabeth specializes in “Material Culture” of the past: works of fine art, period furniture, porcelain, glass, silver, rugs, books and toys. She writes appraisals for many purposes, including Replacement Cost, Fair Market Value, Charitable Contribution, and Equitable Distribution for Multiple Heirs. A specialized area of appraisal, she relishes “Creative Class” appraising for artists, writers, inventors and their unique objects, architects, sculptors, and photographers. Elizabeth also specializes in Damage Claim appraisals, due to her region’s frequent fires. To gauge salability, Elizabeth consults and writes hypothetical value appraisals, advising on liquidation with an eye to the highest value. A favorite aspect of Elizabeth’s job are her numerous speaking engagements, in which she imparts her vast knowledge of historical objects as value symbols to communities around the country.

NEW SERVICES — SAFE TAPES
Before you give what YOU think are treasures to your kids, before another one of our famous Santa Barbara fires, or before a break-in, safeguard your objects with a professionally produced video by Elizabeth’s videographer, John Flandrick. John will make a moving record of YOUR objects in YOUR home.
Your kids may not realize WHAT an object means to your family, and you can be recorded stating the facts. Insurance companies will pay out on insurance only if you can prove visual ownership in the case of a loss. While the Safe Tape video is NOT an appraisal, it is visual evaluation and a record of what you own. Many clients have purchased this service along with a written appraisal document.
A further aspect of the service includes Elizabeth touring the house on the video with you, offering her input as to historical and market value.
